Episode Cover Art
Every episode displays artwork in podcast apps. By default an episode uses your show's artwork; you can also upload a cover just for that episode, which is handy for special guests, series, or seasonal art.
Episode cover art lives on the episode editor's Media tab, in the Cover Art card.
How inheritance works
If you haven't uploaded a custom cover, the card shows your show's artwork with an Inherited from show badge. There is nothing to configure: the episode automatically appears with your show artwork in Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other directories.
If your show has no artwork yet, the card says Your show has no cover art yet and offers Add show artwork, which takes you to Podcast Settings.
Upload a custom cover
- Open the episode and go to the Media tab.
- In the Cover Art card, click Upload custom cover.
- Choose your image. It needs to meet the artwork requirements below.
The custom cover replaces the show artwork for this episode only, everywhere the episode appears.
Artwork requirements
- Shape: square (1:1)
- Size: minimum 1400 x 1400 pixels, recommended 3000 x 3000 pixels
- Format: JPEG or PNG
- File size: up to 5MB
These match Apple's episode artwork requirements, so a cover that passes here works across directories.
Go back to the show artwork
Click Use show artwork instead under the custom cover. The episode returns to inheriting your show's artwork.
Externally hosted shows
On externally hosted shows, the artwork you set here is ready to copy or download from the Publish handoff page when you publish on your external host. See Externally Hosted Shows.
