People and Credits
Two different questions, answered on two different tabs.
Who works on this episode lives on the Guests tab. The Guests card invites people from outside your show, and the Team members card puts people from your own team on the episode. Both are about access.
Who is publicly credited lives on the Publish tab, on the RSS credits card. That is the list of names your feed carries out to podcast apps.
The two overlap but are not the same. Someone can work on an episode without appearing in its credits, and someone can be credited without ever having logged in. Nothing on the Publish tab can give a person access to your episode.
Invite a guest
- Open the episode and go to the Guests tab.
- On the Guests card, click Invite guest.
- Search for an existing guest or add someone new by name and email.
- Click Invite Guest.
The guest receives a verification link by email. Clicking it and confirming their email gives them access to their guest portal for this episode, where they can edit shared show notes and chat with you. Guests don't need a PodcasterPlus account. For the full flow, see Invite Guests.
Inviting while creating
You can also stage guests on the episode creation form, so they're invited the moment the episode exists.
Photos and links on public pages
Each credit can carry its own photo and link. Where it has neither, we use the person's own PodcasterPlus profile instead, so a host who fills in their website later does not have to re-edit every past episode: the link appears on the listen page and in the RSS feed's podcast:person tag automatically.
Two rules worth knowing:
- A photo or link set on the credit always wins over the profile, because that is a deliberate choice for that episode.
- If you turn off Show website link in your profile privacy settings, your website is never published on a public page or in a feed, whatever the credit says.
Manage a guest's access
Expand a guest's row on the Guests card and open its Access tab to see when they were invited and when they last accessed the portal. From there:
- Copy invite link: copies the guest's verification link so you can share it directly. Guests always verify their email before entering the portal.
- Resend invite: sends the verification email again.
- View show notes: jumps to that guest's show notes section.
The row's actions menu offers more: change the guest's status, Regenerate Token (invalidates the old link and issues a new one), or Resend Verification Email.
Bookings on the episode
If the episode came from a guest booking, the Guests card also shows the booking session: the recording time, how many booking slots are filled, and each booking's status. Pending bookings have Confirm and Decline buttons right on the row.
Confirming a booking moves the episode out of pending status, creates or updates the calendar event with the attendees, and emails each attendee a verification link for their guest portal. Expand a row's Booking answers tab to read what the guest submitted on your booking form. See Manage Bookings.
Add a team member to an episode
Guests come from outside your show. Team members are the people already on your podcast, and they get onto an episode from the Team members card.
- Open the episode and go to the Guests tab.
- On the Team members card, click Add team member.
- Choose the person.
- Click Add to episode.
They get access straight away, with nothing to accept. If the episode has a calendar event, they are added to the invite. They are also credited in your RSS feed, because adding someone to an episode is you saying they were on it.
There is no role to choose here, on purpose. What someone can do on an episode comes from their role on the podcast, and this card cannot change that. How they are described in the feed is a separate question, answered on the Publish tab: they start credited to match their podcast role (an owner as Host, an admin as Producer, a member as Co-host), and you can change that for a single episode with Credited as.
Co-hosts only see episodes they are on
A Co-host cannot see an episode until a Host or Producer adds them to it. If a co-host says an episode is missing, this card is where to look.
To take someone off, click Remove on their row and confirm. They lose access to the episode and its show notes, stop getting its notifications, come off the calendar invite, and lose their credit for it. They keep their place on your team and every other episode they are on.
To add somebody who is not on your team yet, invite them to the podcast first in Settings → Team. See Team and Roles.
RSS credits: who appears in your feed
Open the episode's Publish tab and find the RSS credits card. It lists the people credited on this episode, in the order they will appear in your feed. Podcast apps that support crediting show this to listeners.
- Everyone on the episode who is not yet credited appears under On this episode, not in the feed, each with a Credit button.
- Credited as on each row changes how that person is described, for this episode only. The choices are Host, Co-host, Producer, Guest, Editor and Composer.
- Click Credit someone else to name a person who was not a team member or a booked guest, like an editor or a composer. They are credited without gaining any access to the episode.
- Use the up and down arrows to reorder credits.
- Click Remove to take someone out of the credits. They stay on the episode; they are just no longer publicly credited.
Crediting someone differently for one episode
Say a Co-host sat in as a guest for a single episode. Set Credited as to Guest on that episode and the feed says Guest, while everything else stays as it was: they keep their access, their show notes, and their Co-host role everywhere else. It works the other way too, so a booked guest who ended up co-hosting can be credited as Co-host.
Changing this never changes what someone can do. Permissions come from their role on the podcast, and credits are only what listeners see.
Guests who are credited show an In RSS credits badge on their row in the Guests card, and team members show the same badge on theirs.
Credits and publish readiness
The editor's publish readiness checklist includes Credited in the feed: an episode is considered ready once at least one person is credited.
Imported episodes keep their own history
When you import a back catalogue, PodcasterPlus does not add anyone to those episodes' credits. An import is a record of what already went out, and the only thing we change is where the audio is served from.
