The twenty-tab afternoon

Getting listed shouldn't mean twenty tabs and a fortnight of refreshing.

Every directory has its own portal, its own idea of ownership, and its own silence afterwards. Spotify sends no confirmation email. Amazon won't tell you when you're live. Pandora takes four to six weeks and reviews you editorially. So you keep a spreadsheet, and you keep searching your own show's name.

PodcasterPlus turns that into a monitored process — with the awkward truths written down.

Pillar one · the directory wall

Three tiers, so you always know whose job it is.

One directory we submit to for you. Twelve we walk you through, step by step, at their own portal. Seven that arrive on their own once a covering directory confirms.

You submit at each platform's portal — we walk you through the tricky steps, and tell you what each platform will and won't do afterwards.

Apple Podcasts The most important directory — Overcast, Castbox, Goodpods, Podchaser and Listen Notes all mirror it.
Ready
Review usually takes 1–3 days; search indexing up to 24 hours after approval.
Spotify Audio must be MP3 (up to 200 MB per episode). Spotify rejects music-only shows.
Listed
Usually live within hours, occasionally up to 5 days. Spotify sends no confirmation email.
YouTube Music YouTube turns each episode into a static-image video. Editing an episode inside YouTube Studio permanently detaches it from your feed.
Ready
Episodes can take a few days to ingest and pass copyright checks.
Amazon Music & Audible The emailed confirmation link expires after 24 hours — finish the flow in one sitting.
Ready
Approval typically takes hours to a couple of days; one submission covers both.
Pandora Submissions go through Simplecast Creator Connect. MP3 audio, 3000×3000 artwork and a signed licensing agreement required.
Ready
Pandora reviews editorially — expect 4–6 weeks.
Deezer Deezer stops checking feeds that publish nothing for 180 days — keep the show active.
Ready
Usually live within about a day.

Pillar two · pre-flight

Find out you'd be rejected before you're rejected.

Submission readiness checks the ten things directories actually reject feeds for — a missing category, no owner email, non-MP3 audio — and links each failing item straight to its fix. Submit buttons stay disabled until the blockers clear, so you never spend a week waiting on a rejection you could have seen.

  • Ten checks, graded blocking · recommended · passing — no guessing which one matters.
  • Every failing item links straight to the field that fixes it.
  • Submit buttons stay disabled until the blockers clear.

Pillar three · guided submissions

The awkward truths, written down.

You submit at each platform's portal — that part can't be faked, and we don't pretend otherwise. What we do is stand next to you: numbered steps, the portal one click away, and the copy-the-feed-URL or verification tool right where the step needs it. Pick a platform.

Plus YouTube Music, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, Deezer, Pocket Casts, Player FM, Podcast Addict and Castbox — twelve guided platforms in all.

Get listed on Apple Podcasts Review usually takes 1–3 days; search indexing up to 24 hours after approval.

Copy your feed URL Apple reads everything else — artwork, categories, episodes — from the feed.
Sign in to Apple Podcasts Connect Any free Apple Account works — no developer account needed. Choose "Add a show with an RSS feed" and paste your feed URL.
Verify with your feed token If Apple asks you to verify or claim the show, add the verification token below — it appears in your feed within minutes.
Publish and paste your listing link After Apple approves the show, paste its Apple Podcasts URL here — or leave it to us: we check Apple hourly and fill this in automatically.
Pillar four · the watcher

Stop searching for your own show every morning.

An hourly monitor checks Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Podcast Index for you. An exact feed-URL match confirms itself. A near-match on Spotify comes to you as a question — confirm it, or say it isn't yours and it's never suggested again.

Then the good bit: a "Live on Spotify!" notification, and a Listed on a directory trigger fired into your automations — so going live can email the team, post a webhook, or start any workflow you've built.

The #PressForward Podcast open.spotify.com/show/4kQ2… · title match, feed URL not published

Spotify doesn't publish the feed URL behind a show, so we can't be certain. Say the word and we'll mark it listed — say it isn't yours and we won't ask again.

Feed & identity Your RSS feed, listen page and permanent identifier
Feed URL Submit this URL to podcast directories and platforms.
Listen page A one-link hub for every place your show is listed.
Podcast GUID Permanent identifier — assigned once, and it survives feed moves. Directories use it to recognise your show across hosts.
Distribution controls · feed-level flags directories respect
Hide from Apple Podcasts Sets itunes:block so directories that honour it will hide the show.
Show is complete Signals that this serial show has ended and no more episodes are coming.
Lock feed Prevents other hosting platforms importing your show without permission.
Pillar five · identity & control

Your feed, your identity, your call.

Your show is issued a permanent podcast GUID the day it's created — the Podcasting 2.0 identifier that survives moving hosts, so directories recognise you as you.

  • Your owner email, hidden by default It stays out of the public feed until a platform needs to send its confirmation link — then you open a 24-hour window, and it closes itself.
  • Verification tokens, per platform An Apple verification code field and as many per-platform tokens as you need, each rendered into your feed within minutes.
  • Lock feed Stops other hosting platforms importing your show without permission. On by default for shows hosted here.
  • Hide from Apple, mark complete Feed-level flags directories respect — saved automatically and applied on the next sync.

Common questions

The things you'd ask before submitting.

Does PodcasterPlus submit my show to Apple and Spotify for me?

No — and nobody honestly can. Podcast Index is the only directory with an open write API, so that one is a genuine one-click submit. For the other twelve you submit at the platform's own portal; we do the pre-flight, hand you the feed URL and verification tools inline, tell you what to expect, and watch for the listing afterwards.

How long until my show is actually live?

It depends on the platform, and we say so on each card rather than averaging it into a promise. Podcast Index is usually minutes. Apple review normally takes 1–3 days, with search indexing up to 24 hours after approval. Spotify is often hours and sends no confirmation email. Pandora reviews editorially and takes 4–6 weeks.

I'm already listed on some directories. Do I lose that history?

No. Every directory card has "Already listed? Paste your link" — drop in your existing show URL and it counts as listed, appears on your listen page, and the monitor stops looking for it.

How does the automatic detection work, and can it get it wrong?

An hourly monitor checks Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Podcast Index. An exact feed-URL match confirms itself. Spotify doesn't expose feed URLs, so a close title match is surfaced as an "Is this your show?" card instead of being assumed — confirm it, or mark it not yours and that match is never suggested again.

Is my email address published in my feed?

Only when you choose. Your owner email is hidden from the public feed by default. Platforms that email a verification code need it visible, so you open a 24-hour window from the submission panel and it closes on its own afterwards.

What is the podcast GUID, and why should I care?

It's the Podcasting 2.0 identifier assigned to your show once, for life. It survives moving hosts and changing feed URLs, which is how directories keep recognising your show as the same show. Yours is in the Feed & identity card from the day the podcast is created.

Which plans include distribution?

All of them, Free included — every directory, the readiness checks, the hourly watcher, your feed, the embeddable player and the public listen site. Paid plans buy episode volume, seats and automation headroom, not the right to be found.

Get listed everywhere. Then get on with the show.
